でも — even/any/or-something + でも vs ても (Cure Dolly)

でも = で + も — で = だ’s connective (“being”), も = “even”. Core: even being [X].

use build example
even [X] noun + でも 子供でもできる = even a child can do it
any-X question word + でも いつでも anytime · どこでも anywhere · 誰でも anyone · 何でも anything
or something noun + でも (soft suggestion) コーヒーでも飲む? = coffee or something?
even so / but sentence-initial でも、行きます = but I’m going

Any-X logic: いつ (when) + も (even) = “even any time” → whenever. The even widens the range to all cases — that’s why it reads “any”.

attaches to form example
nouns / な-adjectives (だ-based) でも 学生でも · 静かでも
verbs / い-adjectives (て-form) ても 行っても · 寒くても

Both = “even (if)”. Same も; the で/て differs by what it attaches to. Same machine as ikura-temo (いくら〜ても = no matter how much) — there も rides the て-form.

  • 日本人でもあります — も here = also (“is also Japanese”), not “even”. Context decides.
  • Sentence-initial でも = connective “but / even so” (from そうでも), different position, same flavour.
  • でも ≠ けど (softer clause-linker) · ≠ しかし (formal however).
  • Related machine: にもかかわらず = “despite” (formal) — same “grant the condition” family.

でも = even being that — the condition is granted and the result still holds. も does the work; で is copula glue. Same granting engine as ても / たとえ〜ても (even granting X, Y stands).
